What my wife and I did was use the tech available gps chart plotter etc but every 4hrs plot our position on a paper chart with the gps position. Then if we lost everything, Compass course, speed log, position of the sun at certain Times of day, hey presto we are back where we started without the need of the pesky Allminac (spelling) . Loved the vlog.

Its sad how sparsely filleed it it now. The drought really did a number on Jellyfish lake. It used to be FILLED. Like every few inches. Very sad to see. Im suprised theyre allowing people to go back into it. Edit: the golden jelly was the millions she mentioned.

Sailing into those incredibly remote places was what got me interested in watching the Delos channel all those years back. Haven't been following them for a while now...

Mia’s comment about stars reminded me of my most magical moment offshore. We were about 3 days into a 2 week crossing from Guadeloupe to the Azores. I was alone on watch around midnight in full Moon and nice weather, but with the usual squalls. The moonlight made the seascape beautiful. As one squall was gradually letting go, a black shadow suddenly swiped across the clouds leaving a pitch black night. Totally dark. Really scary movie style. I thought what the heck are we getting into now, and immediately reefed down max, got up the others aboard and making ready for something catastrophic. We were all really nervous, as we didn’t understand what it was. However, nothing arrived. Gradually the clouds opened up and I could see stars here and there. It was still pitch black and the Moon was nowhere to be seen. The stars, on the other hand, were mind blowing! Never before or later have I seen anything close to this. Soon I did find the Moon, and it was still full, of course, but it was very faint. Like it was in a dark shadow. Which is when it dawned on me. We were in a Lunar eclipse. That means no light from the Moon spreading in the atmosphere. Also being far from any land, no cities anywhere near us. It literally felt like sitting in empty space looking around through emptiness with absolutely nothing between me and the stars. Every little spot in the sky had innumerable stars and the feeling of depth was beyond explanation. I’m not religious, but that really felt like a religious experience! I get goose bumps thinking about it still, even though it’s over 20 years ago.

I can't say how empressed I am on who you have become from that young wippersnapper collage student who was more party animal to the full grown man who seems to handle any situation with a leval head and confidence. To show you how immersive your videos and Delos’ are…when you were recalling the Madagascar passage my wife said, “We were there!” LOL Hoping to see you guys in Annapolis to say hi. You’ve both brought a lot of adventure and joy to our lives over the years.

Sailing for over 4 decades. Can relate to both the Indian Ocean, Chinese sea as well as English Channel in which I met with the tail of a not predicted hurricane.. 60+ knots and just foam.. for hours. the one lesson I learned: stay in deep water, know that the boat can handle a lot more than the crew. Know that once the storm is over… it’s over…. We have been hit 2x by a severe lightning storm… it was the end of all electric devices.. including a huge hole in our heat exchanger.. not a joke.. but none of it is a reason to stop sailing. Don’t let any of this stop you Because the high is well worth the lows we’ve met over the years. Every sailor will tell you “ that feeling when you switch off the engine(s)”… well worth all the hard work, money and time spent.

Thanks Brady, you reminded me of some real life highlights I had not thought about for a while. You owe it to yourself to find a bigger youtube presence, I think you really underestimate what you bring to/brought to the Delos project and to the sailing videosphere more generally.
